Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse

I must admit that I'm a Twilight reader. I was offered to read the book before watching the movie but I opted to watch the movie first. And I must admit again, the first Twilight movie got me hooked. It was literally my fantasy life on screen (although the girl needed some acting skills). Then I got hold of the book and liked it- it was even better than the movie. I liked it so much that I went to read New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I read them off the net (because I couldn't wait to save money to buy the book) and swallowed them like water. I loved the concept of Edward Cullen.

Then the Twilight craze broke out. Although I do love the book and love the characters, I could never understand why people would go screaming and drooling insanely for the actors. Also, there were Twilight movie peeks, Twilight movie books, and I even saw a Twilight comic book! WTH. Then it was Robert Pattinson this, Robert Pattinson that, Taylor this, Taylor that. There's even a Team Edward and Team Jacob. AHAHAHA! The craze resulted in me starting to have allergic reactions to the actors. Robert Pattinson being the main one. Actually, after overcoming my infatuation of his portrayal of Edward Cullen, I found him badly flawed. But I'm not here to rant about the actors and actresses. I am going to talk about the movies.

My view of Kristen and Robert as Twilight characters changed drastically when I went to watch New Moon. I'm sorry to Twilight fans, but I never got to know what in the world is soooo good about New Moon. Seriously. It's the only romantic movie ever in my life that I wanted to fall asleep just watching it. The director or scriptwriter or whomever is it needs a slap. All I get from the movie were cheesy lines, Jacob shirtless, cheesy lines, Bella's non-responsive face, cheesy lines and Edward murmuring words. Oh, and Robert's make-up for New Moon was horrible. Why does his lips look so red? White face, red lips... doesn't it remind you of a clown? The only enjoyment in the movie for me were the supporting casts. They were good. The movie's portrayal of Bella and Jacob was OK, but between Bella and Edward, I'm afraid the movie didn't do any justice.

I should not be very surprised that the movie was a disappointment. I knew it would. What movie ever gave books justice? Almost none. But New Moon was so bad I was wondering whether the director ever read the book or just asked for a synopsis and started filming.

With New Moon out of the way, I waited (barely) for Eclipse. I forgot that the movie Eclipse was supposed to exist until a few days ago. So out of curiousity, I went to watch the trailers to predict the outcome of the movie. Here is the first:

Honestly, I didn't know whether to hurl my stomach contents or laugh hysterically. I almost did both. The first word Robert murmured (badly) had to be replayed in my mind twice before I even begin to understand that he was actually saying, "Isabella Swan". Then 1 minute of cheesy lines followed after that. Yeah, I do understand this is a romance movie and all, but too much of cheese is... too much. Don't you get sick of eating cheese all the time? On a positive note, I think Kristen's acting is better in this short Eclipse trailer than in New Moon and Robert's lipstick is toned down (I think... it may be my computer screen). Then I noticed that there was another trailer:

I think I breathed better watching this trailer. At least it made me consider the movie more seriously. The only extra qualms I have (in both trailers) was Jacob/Taylor. Is it me or is he too sweet to be seen as a dangerous werewolf warning a dangerous vampire? Another would be... I wish they'd change the red vampire contacts; they look hardly natural.

All in all, I hope the movie turns out as good as the second trailer. I'll chuck the critical reviews in a bag and watch the movie when it comes out anyway. I know I'll get disappointed, but at least it will give me something to laugh at. I just wish that it's much better than New Moon.

Distracted

Hello! I'm not dead. I'm still alive! I just got distracted with... TV SERIES!!! Anime as well as dramas. Ahhh... the live of a TV addict. I could just get lost in my own little fantasy world and never come out. I could just go crazy over all the hot, sensitive guys with ultimate personalities and backgrounds portrayed on media. I could just sigh at the fictional life they lead. Oh... the wonders of fiction and the media. *goes all dreamy*

So I've been watching anime this week. And I totally recommend to you (anime lovers)... Vampire Knight! The graphics are great (sort of like Bleach and Naruto) and the story line is haunting. I love the opening theme and the closing theme is the absolute best! There is a dash of humour here and there so all in all, it'll be a great series to watch. Especially if you fancy vampires!

Taken from animekiwi.com

Yuki's earliest memory is of a stormy night in winter, wherein she was attacked by a vampire... And then rescued by another. Now 10 years later, Yuki Cross, the adapted daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, has grown up and become a guardian of the vampire race, protecting her savior, Kaname, from discovery as he leads a group of vampires at the elite boarding school. But also at her side is Zero Kiryu, a childhood friend who’s hatred for the creatures that destroyed everything he held dear, is now determined never to trust them. This coexisting arrangement seems all well and good, but have the vampires truly renounced their murderous ways, or is there a darker truth behind their actions. Is Kaname's infatuation with Yuki the beginning of a forbidden romance, or is it something in her forgotten past that draws him to her. Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death.

And also, I've been trying to get One Tree Hill Season 5. I've finally gotten a few episodes to watch! I love this drama to pieces! So I'm going off now to watch the series.

Perhaps I'll return soon to post something better. Maybe. We'll see =D.

You Don't Mess With The Zohan

During sometime late last week or beginning of this week, I've watched...

You Don't Mess With The Zohan

I thought that since it's an Adam Sandler's movie, I'd be laughing the tears out of me. However, I was quite disappointed that it did not meet up to standards with previous Adam Sandler movies. If you have nothing to do and you are looking for cheap laughs as well as short entertainment, this is the movie for you. But I suggest that you just buy a DVD instead of watching it in the cinema.

This movie is about an Isreali counterterrorist who faked his own death and went to New York to fulfill his dream of becoming a hair stylist. Sooner or later, his identity was found out by one of his enemies, who is also living in New York. There are a few jokes here and there, crude humour and a cat (miaow)! Adam Sandler's imitation of the Isreali accent and his comical act was a couple of things that kept me impressed. The rest, I thought it was just lame. For the guys, I guess maybe you can feast your eyes on pretty ladies?

Dalia
Emmanuelle Chriqui who plays Dalia, Zohan's love interest

If you like Mariah Carey, you would be pleased to see her making a brief appearance towards the end of the movie as... guess who? Surprise, surprise. Herself!

Could not find a freaking shot of her in the movie

I'm not saying it's all bad. If you are a die hard fan of Adam Sandler, you might like this movie. As for me, I would say the movie's just okay. Oh, and if you do buy the DVD (especially if it's pirated), be warned that Adam Sandler likes being erm... sexy in this movie. ;)
